The acclaimed, award-winning broadway musical, FELA! is in town!  This is an opportunity to watch the musical that takes you through the life and music of Fela Kuti, the acclaimed Nigerian musician whose music spoke to social change and against injustice in Nigeria.  This musical was nominated for 11 Tony awards including ‘Best Musical’ and promises to be a treat to watch. The show will be in D.C. from September 13 through October 9, 2011.

In 2004, Stephen Hendel joined forces with Tony Award-winning choreographer, Bill T. Jones and Jim Lewis, to write the play. Jones directed and Lewis wrote.  It opened to much critical acclaim, with many celebrities making time to see it.  In 2009, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Will & Jada Pinkett-Smith came on board as producers.

It is being hosted by Party Addicts, African Marketing Consultants, Nubian Works, Nwoko Brothers and Fiezta Group, who all have served the Washington DC Metro African community over the past 12-15 years. The music promises to be exciting with veteran DJs, KC Soundclash, Manixx, and Teffler spin old and new Nigerian jams, the top 40 hip-hop, R&B, and Reggae on two floors.
